History of Banca Popolare di Lanciano e Sulmona

 
The origins of Banca Popolare di Lanciano e Sulmona lie in Banca Popolare di Lanciano, founded in 1962, by Senator Vincenzo Bellisario, among others.
On 13 April 1991, Banca Popolare di Lanciano merged with Banca Agricola Industriale di Sulmona Scrl (BAIS), a 100-year old bank located in the area of the Peligna valley since 1885. Thus, Banca Popolare di Lanciano e Sulmona Scrl (BPLS) was created.
In 1995 BPLS joined the BPER Group, after changing its corporate style to joint stock company.
In the following years, geographical expansion continued, also through acquisitions of small local banks: - Banca di Credito Coop. di Villamagna (1996) - Banca di Credito Coop. di Avezzano (2000) - Banca di Credito Coop. di Castel Frentano (2000).
